Lucknow: Former Mumbai Indians (MI) captain Rohit Sharma has been the most successful captain of IPL. He has made the team champion 5 times under his captaincy. Now former India's veteran off-spinner Harbhajan Singh has compared a young player to Rohit in terms of captaincy. Actually, Harbhajan believes that the young captain of Chennai Super Kings (CSK) Ruturaj Gaikwad is similar to Rohit. Let us tell you that just before IPL 2024, Gaikwad has been given the command of CSK and since then he has done a good job.
Not only the captaincy of Rituraj but after getting this responsibility, there has been no impact on him as a batsman. In such a situation, Harbhajan has compared him with Rohit. He said, “When Rohit Sharma was made the captain of Mumbai Indians, he emerged as a much better batsman. He started contributing more to the team and Rituraj Gaikwad is also in a similar manner. Like Rohit, after getting the captaincy, he is not taking any pressure and is seen in great rhythm with the bat. However, this season Gaikwad is getting the support of MS Dhoni and his real test will be when Dhoni is not with the team.
Let us tell you that the right-handed batsman is performing brilliantly in IPL 2024 and this season he has reached the first position in terms of scoring runs. After this, in the match played against Punjab Kings on Wednesday, he played a half-century and scored 62 runs. This season, the 27-year-old has played a total of 10 matches so far, in which he has scored 509 runs at an average of 63.62 and strike rate of 146.69.
