India started the morning playing cautiously. Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul added runs, but the partnership could not be big. Rahul was out after scoring 22 runs. After this, Yashasvi played a good inning of 58 runs, but he too could not handle the team.
Sai Sudarshan (15), Dhruv Jurel (0) and captain Rishabh Pant (7) returned to the pavilion cheaply. Big innings were expected from the experienced players of the team, but no one could fulfill the responsibility.
Ravindra Jadeja (6) and Nitish Reddy (10) also could not survive. India’s position was 122/7 and it was difficult to save the follow-on.
The most important partnership of the Indian innings was between Washington Sundar and Kuldeep Yadav. Sundar scored 48 runs while Kuldeep struggled and added 19 runs in 134 balls. Together they took the team beyond 200 and saved it from follow-on.
