Indian women’s cricket team vice-captain Smriti Mandhana has postponed her wedding after her father was taken to the hospital due to illness. An ambulance was called to the venue to shift her father to the medical facility. The medical emergency stopped all the functions, with Smriti refusing to carry on with her marriage in the absence of her father. It has now been revealed that the health of Smriti’s fiancé, Palash Muchhal, also deteriorated, and he was taken to a hospital.

According to NDTV, Palash suffered from a viral infection and acidity and was taken to a private hospital. However, his condition was not serious, and Palash was discharged after treatment.

Mandhana’s family doctor, Dr. Naman Shah, said that her father is under observation and if he makes progress, there is a possibility of him getting discharged soon.

“Mr Srinivas Mandhana experienced pain in the left side of his chest, and we call it angina. His son called me, and the ambulance was sent immediately to shift him to the hospital. An ECG was conducted, and it was found that his cardiac enzymes were elevated,” he told PTI.

“His BP was also high, and we are trying to bring it down. A team is monitoring its health. If his situation doesn’t improve, we will have to go for angiography,” he added.

The functions were going on for a week in her hometown, Sangli. After the health emergency, the marriage has been postponed indefinitely. The revised date of her big day will depend on the condition and progress her father makes.

Meanwhile, Smriti and Palash have been in a relationship since 2019, but the two opened up about it this year. She played a key role in India’s maiden Women’s World Cup win in Navi Mumbai.
