Delhi: Indian team's great batsman Sunil Gavaskar believes that Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) left-arm fast bowler T Natarajan deserved a place in India's 15-member squad for the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2024. Natarajan has performed brilliantly in the current IPL season and has taken 13 wickets in 7 matches.

Speaking to India Today, 74-year-old Sunil Gavaskar said, “I was thinking about left-arm fast bowler T Natarajan. He is bowling very well, so I thought maybe he could have been in the team, but it's OK. I think he has, who is a seam bowler. They all have experience, so there is no problem.” It is known that despite his stellar performance in IPL 2024, where he did well for SRH, Natarajan was not included in the T20 World Cup squad.
India will enter the T20 World Cup with four spinners (Axar Patel, Ravindra Jadeja, Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav) and just three specialist fast bowlers, but Gavaskar believes that star all-rounder Hardik Pandya will have to play the role of the fourth pacer. Needed.
He further said, “Well, for bowling, along with Hardik Pandya, there is also a fourth seam bowler, maybe that is why they (selectors) have gone with four spin bowlers. West Indies' pitches will be slow, spinners will get help compared to fast bowlers. “As we have seen in the IPL, the slower the balls are, the more difficult it is for the batsmen to hit and perhaps that is why they have gone with the extra spinner.”
