Delhi: Star wicketkeeper batsman Sanju Samson and his fans heaved a sigh of relief after being included in India's 15-member squad for the ICC T20 World Cup 2024, starting from June 2 in the United States of America and West Indies. The captain of Rajasthan Royals (RR) has performed brilliantly in the current IPL season, scoring 385 runs in 9 matches with a strike rate of 161.08. Since making his T20I debut in 2015, Samson has represented India in 16 ODIs and 21 T20 Internationals.
After the announcement of the squad for the upcoming major tournament, the Kerala-born batsman shared a post in Malayalam on Instagram, “Viyarpu Thuniyita Kuppayam”, which means “shirt stitched with sweat and hard work.” At the same time, his father Samson Vishwanath is very happy with Sanju's selection.
He told that till 2023 IPL, Sanju adopted a different approach. His father told a news agency, “Earlier, he used to try to hit every ball for maximum impact. However, this season we are seeing a different Sanju. I am looking forward to seeing him contribute runs for the country.”
