Meerut: A head constable died tragically by burning in the Civil Line police station area of the district. Police and fire brigade reached the spot after receiving the information, removed the body from the room and sent it for post-mortem. At present, exact information about the fire has not been received yet. The police have informed the relatives of the deceased.
According to the police, head constable Vibhor Kumar, posted at the Civil Lines police station, had joined the police in 2011. Head constable Vibhor Kumar lived in a house on rent in Sharma Nagar of Civil Line police station area. Vibhor returned from duty late on Tuesday night and went to his room.
SSP Dr. Vipin Tada said that smoke suddenly started rising from Vibhor’s room on Tuesday night. Due to this, the tenants living in the rest of the house had trouble breathing, so when they tried to find out, they saw smoke coming out of Vibhor’s room. The neighbors called out but there was no response from inside. After this, when people together broke the door, all the stuff was burnt. The head constable had also burnt to death. Local people immediately informed the police and fire brigade. Police reached the spot and sent the badly burnt body of the policeman to the mortuary.
SSP Dr. Vipin Tada said that head constable Vibhor died due to fire in the Civil Lines area of the police station late on Tuesday night. When people living nearby, including policemen and house owners living on rent, saw smoke coming out, they broke the door and his body was found burning. Higher officials reached the spot and inspected it. Prima facie, it seems that the bed caught fire due to smoking, due to which the head constable came under the influence and died. Along with sending the body for post-mortem, the family members have also been informed.
