Despite playing for India under Rohit’s leadership and sharing the field with Kohli, Iyer made his choices without including the celebrated pair.

Venkatesh Iyer selected Virender Sehwag and the in-form Abhishek Sharma as the two openers. Abhishek, who currently holds the top spot in the ICC T20I rankings. This explosive opening pair offers a blend of experience and youth, which is perfect for setting the tone early in the innings.

Venkatesh Iyer has placed AB de Villiers at No. 3, followed by Suresh Raina at No. 4 in his T20 XI. Adding balance to the team, he has picked two all-rounders, Ben Stokes and Hardik Pandya, while MS Dhoni takes charge at No. 7 as the captain and wicketkeeper.
