There is no end to Hardik Pandya’s problems as Mumbai Indians have been eliminated from the playoff race after losing their seventh game in IPL 2024. Hardik and other players were fined by the BCCI for their slow over-rate offence in the match against Lucknow Super Giants. This was MI’s second offence of the season, with Pandya paying a fine of INR 24 lakh while Rohit, Bumrah, and other members of the team were handed an INR 6 lakh penalty.

“Mr Hardik Pandya, Captain, Mumbai Indians has been fined after his team maintained a slow over-rate during Match 48 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 against Lucknow Super Giants at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow on April 30, 2024,” an IPL statement read.

“As it was his team’s second offence of the season under the IPL’s Code of Conduct relating to minimum over-rate offenses, Pandya was fined ₹24 Lakh.

“The rest of the members of the Playing XI, including the Impact Player, were each individually fined either INR 6 Lac or 25 per cent of their respective match fees, whichever is lesser,” the statement added.

Mumbai’s batting failed in Lucknow, and the visitors managed 144/7. Hardik, who was named India’s vice-captain for the ICC T20 World Cup 2024, was dismissed for a first-ball duck. India captain Rohit Sharma once again fell to a left-arm seamer, scoring four runs off five deliveries.

LSG won the game by 4 wickets in 19.2 overs, with Marcus Stoinis scoring a well-compiled 62.

Meanwhile, if the five-time champions are found guilty of another slow-rate offence in the season, Hardik Pandya will be banned from the next contest.
