Delhi: India A batsman Ruturaj Gaikwad performed brilliantly in the second unofficial ODI against South Africa A and created a new record. In the match, he scored an unbeaten 68 runs and gave the team an easy target of 133 runs in 27.5 overs. Ruturaj added 53 runs for the first wicket with Abhishek Sharma. After this, the victory was confirmed by making a partnership of 82 runs with Tilak Verma.
Even in the first match of the series, Ruturaj had scored a brilliant century. By scoring 117 runs, he helped India A achieve the target of 290 runs. He has been elected Player of the Match in two consecutive matches.

After this match, Ruturaj has achieved the highest batting average among Indian batsmen in List A cricket. His average before the match was 56.93. Due to remaining unbeaten, his average has now increased to 57.80. He is now just a little behind Australia’s great Michael Bevan.
Michael Bevan scored runs at an average of 57.86 in List A cricket. After Ruturaj, among Indian batsmen, comes Cheteshwar Pujara, whose average is 57.01. At third place is Virat Kohli whose average is 56.66.
Ruturaj’s List A career
Ruturaj started his List A career by scoring a century for Maharashtra in the 2016-17 Vijay Hazare Trophy. He came to the notice of Team India for the first time in 2021 and in 2022 he made his ODI debut against South Africa. He has 4509 runs in his name in 85 List A innings which include 17 centuries and 18 half-centuries.
