Temba Bavuma’s side caused an upset, winning by 30 runs on Indian soil. Tasked with chasing a modest total of 124, India fell short and were dismissed for just 93. Simon Harmer stood out with eight wickets, earning the Player of the Match award for his remarkable display.

The focus now shifts to Guwahati, where the second Test will take place. A victory for India could prevent a series loss and result in a 1-1 draw. On the other hand, if South Africa win, they will complete a series whitewash for the second time in India.

The first instance happened in 2000, when Hansie Cronje led South Africa to a 2-0 win over India in what was Sachin Tendulkar’s final series as captain.

The India-South Africa series moves to Guwahati for the second Test at Barsapara Stadium, running from 22nd to 26th November. This will be the first Test at the ground. Play will get underway at 9:00 AM IST, slightly earlier than the standard 9:30 AM, as Guwahati experiences sunrise and sunset earlier than usual

“The early tea session is planned due to Guwahati’s sunset and the start of play. “This is the first time we have adjusted the tea timing to save time and allow for more action in the middle,” a BCCI source told The Indian Express.
