Desk: India has suffered a shameful defeat against South Africa at Eden Gardens, Kolkata. South Africa defeated India by 30 runs in the two-match Test series. The surprising thing was that the Indian cricket team could not chase even 124 runs against South Africa. In the second innings, the entire Indian team was reduced to 93 runs. The match ended in the second session of the third day (16 November). For South Africa, spinner Harmer took a total of 8 wickets (four each in both the innings) in this match. South Africa has broken this record of defending the lowest total at Eden Gardens. In the match, South Africa captain Temba Bavuma won the toss and decided to bat first. South Africa had scored only 159 runs in its first innings.

In reply, the Indian team scored 189 runs in the first innings. On the basis of first innings, India got a lead of 30 runs. Then in the second innings, South Africa scored 153 runs and set a target of 124 runs for India.

The Indian team did not have a good start in the run chase. Marco Jansen dismissed both the openers Yashasvi Jaiswal (0 runs) and KL Rahul (1 run) cheaply. Then the third wicket fell in the form of Dhruv Jurel (13 runs), who became the victim of Simon Harmer while trying to hit a T20 style shot.

Harmer then took the wicket of standing captain Rishabh Pant (2 runs). Ravindra Jadeja (18 runs) also got LBW on Harmer's ball after spending some time at the crease.
