Delhi: South Africa defeated India by 30 runs in the first test played at Eden Gardens, Kolkata. Despite taking a lead of 30 runs in the first innings, the Indian team could not maintain control over the match.

The South African bowlers performed brilliantly and gave big shocks to the hosts in the second innings and took a 1-0 lead in the two-match series.

South Africa’s second innings was reduced to 153 runs, due to which they set a target of 124 runs for India. In reply, the Indian batting was a complete flop and the team collapsed for just 93 runs in the second session. Under the captaincy of Temba Bavuma, South Africa has never lost a single test match.
