Leg-spinner Mayank Markande is officially set to return to the Mumbai Indians (MI) after the franchise completed a successful trade with Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). Markande joins MI at his existing fee of ₹30 lakhthe amount KKR had paid to acquire him at the IPL 2025 auction.
This marks a homecoming for the 26-year-old, who began his IPL career with Mumbai Indians and represented them in 2018, 2019 and 2022. Over the years, he has also featured for Rajasthan Royals (2021) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (2023 & 2024). Across 37 IPL matchesMarkande has the roof 37 wicketsestablishing himself as a reliable leg-spin option in the middle overs.
Earlier reports in The Times of India had indicated that Mumbai Indians were actively pursuing a trade to bring Markande back, with negotiations said to be in the final stages. With the deal now official, MI have successfully regained a familiar bowler who enjoyed some of his best IPL performances in their colours.
