Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA) unvealed the Tamil Nadu squad for the 2025 season of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. The side has named star mystery spinner Varun Chakravarthy as their captain for the premier Indian domestic 20-over competition. Stumper-batter Nararayan Jagadeesan has been named as the deputy to Chakravarthy.

The team also features the likes of attacking opening batter Tushar Raheja. Notably, Raheja has been a consistent performer in the Tamil Nadu Premier League. In 2025 season of the TNPL, Raheja top-scored with 488 runs across just nine innings, averaging a staggering 61.00 with the bat.

He was also the Player of the Match in the finals for his 77 off 46 against Dindigul Dragons, contributing massively in iDream Tiruppur Tamizhans triumphant campaign.

Meanwhile, seasoned campaigners like M Shahrukh Khan and T Natarajan have also been named whereas, left-arm spinner Ravisrinivasan Sai Kishore is also expected to play a crucial role for the side. The star-studded line-up further features left-arm pacer Gurjapneet Singh, Pradosh Ranjan Paul, and C Andre Siddharth.

Chakravarthy set to be retained by KKR

Coming back to Chakravarthy, the star spinner is expected to be retained by Kolkata Knight Riders for the Indian Premier League 2026. He was in terrific form for the three-time champions, and has become a regular in India's T20I side as well.

In 2025, he picked 17 wickets in 13 matches for KKR, while maintaining an extremely frugal economy rate of 7.66. 

The deadline to announce retentions is Saturday, November 15, post which the attention will shift to the mini auction for the 19th season of the cash-rich tournament.
