Jacob Duffy put up a brilliant spell during the final T20I in the West Indies tour of New Zealand 2025, setting up a base for the host to secure a comfortable 8-wicket victory at Dunedin.
His four-wicket haul, along with Robinson and Conway’s opening stand, secured a clinical victory for the Blackcaps.
Jacob Duffy returned with figures of 4/35, ripping through the West Indies batting line-up, from which they failed to recover.
After being invited to bat first, the West Indies top order failed to pick up the pace as Jamieson dismissed Alick Athanaze for 1 run.
Meanwhile, Jacob Duffy opened his account, dismissing Shai Hope and continuing to dismiss Ackeem Auguste for 11 and 8 runs respectively.
Duffy picked his third wicket in the same over, dismissing Sherfane Rutherford for a duck, leaving West Indies to struggle with losing four wickets for 21 runs.
New Zealand’s onslaught continued as Bracewell dismissed Rovman Powell for 11 runs. With Roston Chase trying to rebuild the innings, Jason Holder tried to forge a partnership.
Chase added up 38 runs before Neesham sent him back to the dug out and Romario Shepherd’s 36 runs didn’t make much of a difference.
Matthew Forde and Jayden Seales were sent out on a duck as New Zealand restricted West Indies for 140 runs in the 19th over.
In the pursuit of chasing 141 runs, Tim Robinson and Devon Conway opened the innings and made a solid start of 69 runs for the first wicket.
Romario Shepherd dismissed Robinson for 45 runs, giving the first breakthrough for the West Indies. However, it did not apply salt to the wound as Rachin Ravindra and Mark Chapman made a small partnership with Devon Conway, helping the side to complete the chase in the 16th over.
Rachin Ravindra and Mark Chapman scored 21 runs each while Devon Conway remained unbeaten (47*) along with Chapman to complete the chase at Dunedin.
Jacob Duffy was named as the Player of the Match and also Player of the Series. With the thrilling contests in short format concluded, the interests now shift to the limited overs format as the first ODI game will be played on November 16 at Hagley Oval, Christchurch.
