IND vs SA, Women’s World Cup 2025 final: Smriti-Shafali record hundred-run opening partnership

Smriti Mandhana and Shafali Verma recorded a hundred-run opening stand for India against South Africa in the Women’s ODI World Cup 2025 final on Sunday.

The pair added 104 runs off 106 balls to give India a solid start in the summit clash at the D.Y. Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai.

During the partnership, they also crossed 1,000 runs as a pair, becoming the 11th Indian duo to achieve the landmark.

Harmanpreet Kaur and Mithali Raj hold the overall partnership record for India in Women’s ODIs, with 1,978 runs in 56 innings, while the record for the most runs in opening stands is held by Smriti and Pratika Rawal, who have 1,799 runs in 23 innings together.

Smriti was eventually dismissed for 45, edging one to the wicketkeeper off Chloe Tryon, while Shafali brought up her first half-century in more than three years soon after her partner’s dismissal.
