Sanju Samson is the captain of Rajasthan Royals since 2021 and under his leadership the team has performed well many times. However, due to injury in the last season, he had to leave the team midway and was replaced by Riyan Parag as interim captain. Despite this, Parag is said to be out of the race for captaincy this time. According to reports, Rajasthan Royals are now looking at two young stars Yashasvi Jaiswal and Dhruv Jurel as potential captains.
Both the players have performed brilliantly in IPL and domestic cricket and have reached the Indian team. According to the Times of India report, the team management has already informed both of them that they should be ready for captaincy. While Jaiswal is known for his aggressive batting and leadership abilities, Jurel’s experience and versatility gives him a slight edge. Being a wicketkeeper, Jurel can fill the vacant place of Samson in the team.
Apart from this, his stability in the middle order and his ability to play the role of a finisher are also considered beneficial for the Royals. Meanwhile, Riyan Parag’s name being out of the captaincy race is a bit shocking. When he took charge of the team in a few matches last season, the results were not special, due to which the management now wants to rely on a new face.
As far as Ravindra Jadeja is concerned, at present his chances of becoming the captain of Royals are considered less. However, Jadeja has previously captained Chennai Super Kings and this trade could perhaps propel him into taking up a leadership role once again.
