Lucknow: The ICC T-20 World Cup 2024 will be played in June, for which the Indian team is going to be announced as soon as possible. In such a situation, before the announcement of the squad, a report has now come out, in which it is being said that Rajasthan Royals (RR) captain Sanju Samson has lagged a little behind in the race of wicketkeeper batsmen. Apart from this, KL Rahul will not get a place in this team and other options can be considered. After this report came out, Rahul got a big shock.

Actually, according to a report of Indian Express, there will be a meeting of the selection committee in Ahmedabad on Tuesday, in which the players will be discussed. Captain Rohit Sharma will participate in this meeting through video conferencing because Mumbai has to play a match against Lucknow on the same day. The most talked about competition in this meeting is the competition between Sanju Samson and Shubman Gill. Either of these two players can get a place in the World Cup squad. Rishabh Pant remains the first choice as wicketkeeper for this World Cup.

India already has many options as a top order batsman, which includes captain Rohit, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Virat Kohli. The selection committee led by Ajit Agarkar does not want to tamper with it and these three players will be seen playing. The selection committee does not want any other top order batsman and in such a situation, KL Rahul is already out of the race. However, Sanju is still in the race but only one of him and Gill will get a place.

There are many top order players in the Indian team and in view of this, the names of Dhruv Jurel and Jitesh Sharma have now been included in the race for the second option wicketkeeper. If either Samson or Gill is selected then either of these two players can be selected. Although, the right-handed batsman has performed well in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, but he bats at the top order i.e. number three, where currently there is no vacancy.

The 29-year-old has played a total of 9 matches in IPL 2024, in which he has scored 385 runs at an average of 77 and a strike rate of 161.09. During this period, he has scored 4 half-centuries and his best score has been 82 runs. Not only this, Sanju has returned not out 4 times during this period.
