Women’s Premier League (WPL) franchise Mumbai Indians retained five players, including captain Harmanpreet Kaur, ahead of the auction, which is set to take place on November 27 in New Delhi.
Nat Sciver-Brunt, Amanjot Kaur, Hayley Matthews and G. Kamalini (uncapped) were the other players retained by the defending champion.
The BCCI has fixed the auction purse at Rs. 15 crore and set different price slabs for retentions – Rs. 3.5 crore for Player 1, Rs. 2.5 crore for Player 2, Rs. 1.75 crore for Player 3, and Rs. 1 crore for Player 4. In case of a fifth player retention, the price bracket was Rs. 50 lakh.
“If a franchise opts to retain five players, Rs. 9.25 crore would be deducted from its purse, while for four, the deduction would be Rs. 8.75 crore; for three, it would be Rs. 7.75 crore; for two, Rs. 6 crore; and for one, Rs. 3.5 crore,” the release stated.
