Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with the Indian cricket team at his residence in New Delhi to congratulate them on their historic Women's World Cup 2025 victory. Harmanpreet Kaur and her teammates interacted with the PM and shared a meal, during which Modi won hearts by personally offering injured Pratika Rawal her dinner plate.

The dinner on Wednesday evening at Lok Kalyan Marg also had head coach Amol Muzumdar and BCCI president Mithun Manhas in attendance. The gathering featured light-hearted conversations about cricket, faith, tattoos, and skincare, followed by a buffet where the PM also offered sweets to the players before they began their meal.

Rawal, who had been injured during the group-stage match against Bangladesh and was ruled out of the knockouts, attended the ceremony wearing a moon boot and using a wheelchair. Observing that she had not taken any food, PM Modi personally ensured she was served, a moment that has since gone viral on social media.

Aapko koi kuch de nahi raha, kya pasand hai aapko? (No one is giving you anything, what do you like?),” Modi said while offering Pratika.

During his interaction with the players, the Prime Minister acknowledged the immense success of the Indian women’s team. He had previously met the squad after their narrow loss in the 2017 World Cup final, and expressed his joy at seeing them return eight years later with the trophy.

“You have done a great job. In India, cricket is not just a game. In a way, it has become the life of the people of India. If there is good happening in cricket, India feels good and even if there is a little bit of wrong happening in cricket, the whole of India feels bad,” Modi said.
