Delhi Capitals have announced their retentions on deadline day (November 5) ahead of the mega auction of the 2026 Women's Premier League, which is scheduled to be held on November 27 in New Delhi. The 2025 instalment of the WPL was the third time Delhi Capitals finished as runners-up.
India's 2025 Women's World Cup-winning stars Jemimah Rodrigues and Shafali Verma were retained for INR 3.5 crore and INR 2.5 crore, respectively. South African veteran all-rounder Marizanne Kapp, who like Jemimah and Shafali has represented Delhi in all three seasons up until now, has been retained for INR 1.75 crore as the first overseas pick.
Australian all-rounder Annabel Sutherland was the second overseas player to be retained. The franchise has saved a gross amount of INR 1 crore. Being the fourth player to be kept, Sutherland was retained for INR 1 crore. She had been earning INR 2 crore for the past couple of seasons after a move from Gujarat Giants post the inaugural WPL season.
As per the mega auction rules, a minimum of one uncapped Indian player has to be retained by each franchise, if they opt to fully utilize their option of five retentions. DC have opted to go ahead with India's Under-19 2024 T20 World Cup-winning skipper Niki Prasad. The lower middle-order batter was retained for INR 50 lakh as the fifth player.
In what is one of the biggest developments of the WPL, Meg Lanning has not been retained by team management. The former Australian star is the leading run-getter of the franchise, while also captaining them to three-consecutive finals in as many seasons. She has amassed 952 runs in 27 matches at a strike rate of 127.10. It will be interesting to see if DC picks Lanning again when her name goes up at the auction.

DC have finished as table-toppers all the past three seasons of the WPL. Despite being spared of playing the Eliminator on all three occasions, they have fallen short on all instances. They were defeated by Mumbai Indians twice (by seven wickets and eight runs in 2023 and 2025, respectively) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru once (by eight wickets in 2024).
