Delhi: After the Indian women’s cricket team’s World Cup victory, team’s batsman Harleen Deol made everyone laugh by asking a funny question to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. During an official meeting, when the team interacted with PM Modi, Harleen wanted to know from him about his skincare routine.
Prime Minister Modi praised Harleen’s cheerful and light-hearted style. After this Harleen suddenly asked a question, “Sir, your skin is always glowing. Can you tell your skincare routine?” This question lightened the atmosphere of the entire room. Modi also smiled and said that he does not think much about it.
“Sir, it’s because of the love of the countrymen,” joked a team member, which brought more laughter. Head coach Amol Muzumdar also laughingly added that his hair had turned gray while working with these players.
Muzumdar also told an interesting story about his first tour to England. He told that when the team got a chance to take a photo with King Charles, only 20 people could stand in one frame. The team and support staff said they did not mind him missing the photo with King, as they were saving it to meet Prime Minister Modi after winning the ODI World Cup.
India’s vice-captain Smriti Mandhana said that the team played the World Cup not just to win but to bring change in women’s sports and inspire the new generation. Her victory was not just about winning the trophy, but also a symbol of change and inspiration in women’s sports.
In this match, under the captaincy of Harmanpreet Kaur, the team created history by defeating South Africa in the final and winning India’s first Women’s ODI World Cup.
