Pratika Rawal was one of India’s key performers in the 2025 Women’s ODI World Cup, and was part of the championship-winning squad following a landmark win against South Africa in the final on November 2 at DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai.
The 25-year-old all-rounder was, however, unable to participate in the knockout stages after rolling her ankle in India’s last group match against Bangladesh. Youngster Shafali Verma acted as Rawal’s replacement and became a key player in the title match.

Following India’s World Cup triumph, reports surfaced claiming that Rawal had not received a winner’s medal as she was deemed ineligible prior to the final. Nevertheless, those stories were extinguished when the Indian team visited Prime Minister Narendra Modi at his residence on Lok Kalyan Marg when Rawal was seen sporting her World Cup medal with pride as the team took pictures with PM Modi, confirming she had been duly represented as a member of the winning team.
The Indian contingent also presented PM Modi with a team jersey, signed by all team members, to commemorate their recent win and their special meeting with him.
