Rajasthan Cricket Association is once again caught in the grip of internal strife. This organization, which has been struggling with factionalism and leadership disputes for a long time, is now in a new trouble due to the announcement of two different state teams for big domestic tournaments like Ranji Trophy. This situation has not only raised questions on the team selection, but has also put a question mark on the career of young cricketers of Rajasthan. The question is which team will play for Rajasthan in Ranji matches.
The ongoing tussle within the Rajasthan Cricket Association has now come out on the field. Two groups of the organization have announced their respective Ranji teams. One group is of the members of the adhoc committee, while the other group is of the committee's convener DD Kumawat. This is not only a violation of BCCI rules, as there should be only one team per state, but it has also created confusion among the players. According to inside information, information about this matter has reached BCCI and the board is keeping a close watch on RCA. If no solution is found soon, the board may intervene directly, which may prove costly for Rajasthan cricket.
Meanwhile, Rajasthan Sports Council President Neeraj K Pawan has expressed concern over the situation. He said that various complaints, including those related to the two teams related to RCA, are continuously coming to the department. If necessary, they will be thoroughly investigated. Pawan made it clear that big steps can be taken at the state level in the interest of players and sports. If the situation worsens, the tournaments can be conducted smoothly through the steering committee formed on the instructions of the Sports Minister. His statement indicates the active role of the state government, so that the dispute does not escalate to the suspension of RCA.
This is not a new problem for RCA. The state government had formed an ad-hoc committee twice before, but both attempts fell victim to factionalism. For the first time, tension had come to light between MLA Jaideep Bihani and Dhananjay Singh Khivsar. Now history is repeating itself, where the conflict between DD Kumawat and Dhananjay Singh Khivasar is at its peak. At the same time, BCCI has indicated to adopt a strict stance in this matter. If RCA does not find a solution soon, then the Rajasthan state team is in danger of being banned.
