World Cup-winning Indian team meets Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi

The Women’s ODI World Cup-winning Indian team met with Primer Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday in New Delhi, days after beating South Africa in the final in Navi Mumbai.

The team had arrived in the national capital on Tuesday night ahead of the meeting with PM Modi.

Also present in this meet-and-greet were head coach Amol Muzumdar and the BCCI president Mithun Manhas.

The Indian team presented the Prime Minister with a special jersey which bore the word ‘NAMO’ (acronym used to refer to Modi) and the shirt was signed by all the players.

The players were also seen having a conversation with Modi, recalling instances from the final against the Proteas.

The PM discussed how India skipper Harmanpreet Kaur pocketed the ball after the final match, to which she said she was lucky that the ball came to her, and she kept it.

Modi also discussed the now famous catch of Amanjot Kaur which she took after several fumbles. She said this is one fumble which she likes to see.

India clinched its first-ever World title after beating South Africa by 52 runs in the summit clash at the DY Patil Stadium on Sunday, November 2.
