Farrukhabad, 5 November (Read). Former MLA Maharam Singh, known as Gandhi in Farrukhabad district of Uttar Pradesh, was remembered on his death anniversary on Wednesday. The speakers threw light on his work and personality.
Dinesh Pratap Singh Annu told that former MLA Maharam Singh has been MLA twice from Farrukhabad assembly constituency and twice from Kamalganj assembly constituency. His tenure is considered to be his golden tenure. Due to his nature, the people here started calling him Gandhi of Farrukhabad. Today, on the death anniversary of Gandhi, a large number of people reached his residence Nagla Dina and paid tribute to him. He said that being a leader like Maharam Singh is not possible in the near future. He always fought for the poor. He was also called the messiah of the poor.
It is noteworthy that in relation to Maharam Singh, who was born in village Gandhi of Rajepur police station area of Farrukhabad district, it is said that he was born on 19 December 1924 and passed away on 5 November 2016. Discussions about Maharam Singh are happening in every street. This kind of leader is not found anymore. Everyone is paying tribute to this Gandhi of Farrukhabad. Thousands of people including Bhanu Pratap Singh were present among those who paid tribute.
