Delhi: Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) has almost missed the playoffs due to its poor performance in the current season of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2024). However, in this edition, amidst six consecutive defeats, it has finally got 3 wins in its account. They registered a 9-wicket win against Gujarat Titans (GT) on Sunday. In this match, star all-rounder Will Jacques scored a brilliant century. He scored 100 runs in just 41 balls with the help of 5 fours and 10 sixes and remained unbeaten.

RCB achieved the target of 201 runs given by Gujarat by losing only one wicket in 16 overs. Meanwhile, Jacques completed his first half-century in 31 balls. After this, Jacques, who changed gears, took only 10 balls to reach the century mark. He scored 29 runs in the 15th over against Mohit Sharma and then finished the match by scoring 28 runs in the over of Rashid Khan. Meanwhile, the 25-year-old batsman gave credit to Virat Kohli and captain Faf du Plessis for reaching 50 to 100.

Was able to score a century because of Virat Kohli – Will Jacques

Will Jacques said after the match, “Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis are the reason why I am so excited about this match. The good start given by both of them gave me the opportunity to play freely and without any pressure and when I was in trouble, Kohli played big shots and took the pressure off me. Also, I scored 17 runs in the first 17 balls and the main reason for hitting like that was the great player Virat Kohli at the other end.”

The right-handed batsman further said, “Kohli and I had talked that if we get exactly two overs, we can finish the match. We did the same, but in the past I used to have trouble facing spin, but now we are playing positive and scoring runs.”

The off-spinner said, “It was amazing to bat with Virat Kohli. I learned a lot from him. He guided me very well on how to bat on these pitches. It was really nice to play with him and bat with him.”

It is noteworthy that at the end of the match, Virat Kohli made an important contribution to Rashid Khan's century by taking a single on the first ball and giving it to Strike Jacques. In this match, Kohli scored 70 runs in 44 balls with the help of 6 fours and 3 sixes and remained unbeaten.
