The left-handed batter Travis Head will be missing the final two games of the T20I series against India as he aims to focus on his preparations for the upcoming Ashes.

He will be appearing for South Australia in the Sheffield Shield as part of his preparations.

Travis Head will be available for the game against Tasmania in Hobart next week, and this will be his first red-ball game since the tour of West Indies in July.

He had a rough patch in white-ball cricket for months, with a high score of 31 runs in eight innings across T20I and ODIs after making 142 runs against South Africa in August.

Head has played a crucial role in Australia’s test line-up, where he will be playing at No. 5 with the ability to change games at crucial times.

His appearance for South Australia will add to the experience of the Sheffield Shield ahead of the first test, if not all of the squad, which will be named later this week expected to appear.

Meanwhile, Josh Hazlewood, who departed the T20I series after the game in Melbourne and Mitchell Starc are set to play for New South Wales against Victoria in an attack which will feature Nathan Lyon.

Sean Abbott will also be leaving the T20I squad following the Hobart game, is also available for NSW.

The official statement from Cricket Australia said, “Travis Head and Sean Abbott will leave the T20 squad for their respective home states following last night’s third T20 International in Hobart. Ben Dwarshuis returns to the T20 squad for the last two matches on the Gold Coast and in Brisbane”

“Tanveer Sangha has been released to play for New South Wales in the One-Day Cup, while Head is available for South Australia’s next Sheffield Shield match against Tasmania next week. Abbott will be available for New South Wales’ next game against Victoria at the SCG.”

On the other hand, Cameron Green is expected to return to the bowling crease in Western Australia’s clash with Queensland at the WACA Ground after his return with the ball from back surgery was stunted by side soreness before last month’s ODIs against India.

The T20I series has been levelled 1-1 with a match ending with no result. The fourth match of the T20i series will be played on November 06 at Heritage Bank Stadium.
