Speeding auto hits international power lifter, referred to Varanasi

Mirzapur, 1 November (Read). There was a stir on Friday near the roadways of Katra Kotwali area in Mirzapur, Uttar Pradesh, when a speeding auto hit international power lifter Nidhi Patel. Nidhi was seriously injured in the accident. His coach Sureshchandra, who was present at the spot, with the help of local people, took him to Divisional Hospital, where after first aid, the doctors referred him to Varanasi.

According to the information, 32-year-old Nidhi Patel, resident of Pachevara village of Chunar, had come to participate in the three-day state level Kabaddi competition going on at Barkachha South Campus. She left for South Campus on bike with coach Sureshchandra. After reaching the roadways, she was waiting for a four-wheeler, when an auto coming at high speed hit the bike.

The collision was so severe that Nidhi fell on the road and suffered serious leg injuries. After the accident, the auto driver fled from the spot along with the vehicle. Police reached the spot after receiving the information and inquired about the well being of the injured power lifter and started searching for the absconding driver.
