Maharashtra lifted its maiden Senior Women’s T20 Trophy title after beating Madhya Pradesh by 12 runs in the final of the 2025 edition on Friday at the Lalbhai Contractor Stadium in Surat.
Key contributions from Gautami Naik, Tejal Hasabnis, and Shweta Mane with the bat along with Ishita Khale’s three-wicket haul helped Maharashtra win the tournament on its sixth attempt.
The side had reached the final in the 2009-10, 2014-15, 2015-16, 2017-18, and 2021-22 editions, but had fallen short on all occasions.
In a rain-truncated match which saw each side playing for 14 overs, Maharashtra posted 102 for nine with Shuchi Upadhyay picking four wickets in her three overs.
Chasing 103, Madhya Pradesh openers Jincy George and Anushka Sharma were the only players to cross the 20-run mark as the side lost five wickets for just 16 runs. The collapse began in the 12th over when Ishita removed Soumya Tiwari (17) and Nikita Singh on consecutive deliveries as MP was restricted to 90 for nine in 14 overs.
India international Tejal (30 off 24 balls) was adjudged as the Player of the Match while Madhya Pradesh’s Vaishnavi Sharma, the left-arm spinner who emerged as the tournament’s highest wicket-taker with 21 scalps, was adjudged as the Player of the Series.
