CWC 2025 Semi-Final: With the help of opener batsman Phoebe Litchfield’s historic century and half-centuries from all-rounders Ashley Gardner and Ellyse Perry, Australia scored a huge score of 338 runs in 49.5 overs in the ICC Women’s World Cup semi-final match against India on Thursday. India ultimately did not allow the visiting team to play the full 50 overs, yet Team India has got a big target. Lichfield’s historic century made her the youngest player to score a Women’s World Cup knockout century, her 155-run partnership with Ellyse Perry gave Australia a solid platform at 180/2.

At the age of 22 years and 195 days, Lichfield is the second youngest Australian player to score a century in the Women’s World Cup. Lichfield shared a 155-run partnership with Perry (77 off 88 balls with six fours and two sixes), allowing the Australians to build a strong base at 180/2 when Amanjot Kaur (1 for 51) uprooted the centurion’s stumps.Sri Charani (2/49) and Radha Yadav (1/66) restricted Australia to 265/6 in 41.4 overs, despite a half-century from Perry. However, a 66-run partnership between Gardner (63 runs in 45 balls, with the help of four fours and four sixes) and Kim Garth (17) took Australia past 300. In the last few overs, Australia went from 331/7 to 338 all out, leaving India with a mammoth target of 339 runs to win. Indian batsmen will have to score runs carefully and very fast.
