Varanasi, 30 October (Read). Another proud moment came for India in the ongoing Third Youth Asian Games in Bahrain, when promising wrestler Jaiveer Yadav of Jaunpur brought glory to the country by winning the gold medal in the wrestling competition of 55 kg weight category. As soon as the news of Jaiveer’s historic victory was received, there was a wave of happiness among the sports lovers of Varanasi and Jaunpur. There was a rush to congratulate the family members at Jaiveer’s maternal home located in Gaddopur Hathi Bazaar (Jansa) of Varanasi. Family, friends and villagers celebrated Jaiveer’s success by distributing sweets.

According to Gorakh Yadav, Joint Secretary of Varanasi Wrestling Association, Jaiveer faced the Japanese wrestler in the final. During the match, Jaiveer was trailing 0-6 and only 16 seconds were left for the wrestling match to end. Meanwhile, the Japanese player made a ‘Bharandaj’ bet, which Jayveer made a brilliant counter attack and ‘failed’ it. With this unexpected counterattack, Jaiveer achieved the honor of getting the fifth gold medal for India.

Wrestling coach Ram Sajan Yadav, who went to Bahrain with the Indian team, is also a resident of Chaubepur area of Varanasi. Gorakh Yadav told that Jaiveer learned the art of wrestling while living in his maternal home in Varanasi and grew up in sports life.
