Bengaluru, 30 October (Read). Praveen Kumar, Panchayat Development Officer (PDO) of Lingsugur taluk of Raichur district of Karnataka, who was suspended for participating in the path movement of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), has got relief. Karnataka Administrative Tribunal (KAT) has put a temporary stay on the suspension order of the state government. This decision of KAT is a blow to the government’s efforts to stop activities like RSS.

In fact, PDO Praveen Kumar of Rodlabanda village of Lingsugur taluk had participated in the path march wearing uniform as part of the RSS centenary celebrations organized on October 12. After this, he was suspended by Dr. Arundhati, Commissioner of Panchayat Raj Department, accusing him of violating Karnataka Civil Service rules. Praveen Kumar had approached KAT against his suspension. After the hearing, KAT canceled the government’s suspension order, calling it a politically motivated move.

This incident had created a stir in political circles also. After the suspension, BJP MP Tejashwi Surya met Praveen Kumar and said that this is an illegal and unfair action and I myself will fight for you in the court. This fight was fought with the legal support of Tejashwi Surya, as a result of which KAT has now put a stay on the suspension order of the government.
