In the Ranji Trophy clash between Maharashtra and Chandigarh, Prithvi Shaw stole the spotlight with a blistering double century off just 141 balls, the third fastest in the tournament’s history. However, Ruturaj Gaikwad’s century in the first innings earned him the Player of the Match recognition. Showing admirable camaraderie, the CSK captain selflessly shared the award with Shaw in a fine show of team spirit.

Ruturaj Gaikwad anchored Maharashtra’s innings with a commanding 116, helping his side secure a crucial first-innings lead against Chandigarh. Prithvi Shaw later stole the show, scoring a brilliant 222 from just 156 balls.

On Day 3, Shaw reached his 100 in only 72 balls, hitting 13 fours, the sixth-fastest ton recorded in Ranji Trophy history. He raced to 200 off 141 balls after a fluent 80-run stretch.

Shaw, who began his Ranji Trophy career with Mumbai in 2017 against Tamil Nadu, left the team before this season, seeking a new beginning after a difficult phase that cost him his spot in the red-ball side. He also went unsold at the IPL 2025 mega auction.
