Delhi: Team India’s star batsman KL Rahul recently shared the story of a funny conversation he had with former England cricketer Kevin Pietersen. This incident happened during the IPL 2025 season, when both were associated with Delhi Capitals. Rahul had joined the team as a batsman and Pietersen was part of the team as a mentor.

The fans liked the light banter between the two on the field and on social media. Rahul told that their funny relationship was actually much funnier than it appeared to the fans.

During a conversation in a YouTube podcast named ‘2 Sloggers’, Rahul told that his wife Athiya Shetty had also questioned him about this joke. Rahul laughed and said, “Our conversations are a little different. He also teases me. There was a video in which I said some things, which Delhi Capitals posted on Instagram. Then my wife said, ‘Why are you so rude, he is a very nice person.'”

Rahul further said, “I told him that what is shown in the video is very little. The things he says to me do not come out. I answer only three times out of a hundred.”

Rahul also told that once he had jokingly complained to Peterson’s wife Jessica. Rahul said laughing, “We were in England and he invited me for dinner. There I said to Jessica, ‘Tell your husband to be a little gentle on me, he is very rude to me.'”

This friendly banter between the two became the highlight of the Delhi Capitals camp in IPL 2025. Pietersen also praised Rahul’s batting during the season. Rahul continued this excellent form on the England tour, where he scored 532 runs in 10 innings, which included two centuries and two half-centuries.
