India entered the Women’s ODI World Cup 2025 semifinals after beating New Zealand in its penultimate league stage fixture by 53 runs (DLS method) on Thursday in Navi Mumbai.

This is the fifth time that the Women in Blue have reached the last four stage, having done so previously in the 1997, 2000, 2005 and 2017 editions.

Since India will remain fourth irrespective of its result against Bangladesh in its final league stage fixture, the host will meet the table-topper in the semifinals.

Hence, India will meet Australia in the semifinals on October 30 in Navi Mumbai. This will be the first time the two sides will meet in the World Cup semis since their clash in the 2017 edition, which saw Harmanpreet Kaur smash an unbeaten 171.

Australia ended as the table-topper after the defending champion eased past South Africa on Saturday with a seven-wicket win in Indore.

In their league stage fixture, Australia broke the record for the highest-ever successful chase in women’s ODIs to beat India by three wickets in Visakhapatnam.
