Former ICC Match Referee Stuart Broad: Team India is currently desperate to play a series of 5 T20I matches against Australia. This series is going to start from 29th October. Earlier, the former match referee of the International Cricket Council (ICC) has made a big allegation against Team India. During an interview, he also made a big revelation about former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly.

What did Chris Broad reveal?

Former ICC match referee chris broad Recently revealed in an interview that he had received a call once during his tenure as a match referee.

In this, he was asked to 'exercise leniency' and avoid the penalty of slow over rate on India. Although he did not tell who had called him? Chris Broad doesn't remember which match it was? Or which team was playing against India in that match?

Chris Broad told The Telegraph in an interview, "India were three, four overs behind at the end of the match, so this penalty was due. I got a call which said, 'Take it easy, take some time out because this is India'.

So we had to take some time out and the over-rate was brought down to the prescribed limit." The former match referee further said, “In the next match also, exactly the same thing happened.” The then Indian captain Sourav Ganguly didn't listen to me, so I called and asked, 'What do you want me to do now?' And I was told, 'Just do it with them'”.

Took retirement in the year 2024

Chris Broad further said that I think till the time Vince van der Bijl (ICC Umpire Manager) was in this position, we had his support because he was from a cricket background, but after his departure the management became very weak.

India got all the money and has now taken over ICC in many ways.

He said that I am happy that I am no longer in this post, because this is a more political post than ever before. Chris Broad has played the role of match referee in 123 Tests, 361 ODIs and 138 T20I matches. He took retirement from this post in February 2024.
