At the time when the cricket world was mostly focused on the amazing feat of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli in Sydney, at the same time an Australian bowler was wreaking havoc at the Holkar Stadium in Indore. In the last ODI match against India in Sydney, Australian bowlers could take only one wicket, but in Indore, Australia's star spinner Elana King laid such a trap that South Africa's entire batting was destroyed. In the ICC Women's World Cup 2025 match, Elana King created history by taking 7 wickets in 7 overs and bowled out South Africa for just 97 runs.
The match between Australia and South Africa was eagerly awaited in the league stage of the World Cup on Saturday 25th October in Indore. Both the teams had already qualified for the semi-finals but eyes were on this match because Australia and South Africa had proved to be the best teams in the entire tournament so far. It remained to be seen how South Africa would be able to present its claim against defending champion Australia. But what was seen after the start of the match made it clear that overcoming Australia is still not easy.
