India women secured a spot in the semi-finals after a mammoth win against New Zealand in the Women’s ODI World Cup 2025 game, which was played on October 24 at Navi Mumbai.

They secured a 53-run victory in the rain-affected game and secured the final berth in the semi-final stages.

After being invited to bat first, Pratika Rawal and Smriti Mandhana opened the innings while Rosemary Mair opened the bowling attack.

The Indian duo made a decent start, scoring 40 runs in the power play. However, the accelerated innings with Smriti Mandhana smash her hundred in the 31st over.

She went on to score 109 runs off 95 deliveries, which included 10 fours and 4 sixes. Suzie Bates went to bag the wicket of Mandhana in the 34th over.

Jemimah Rodrigues went on to add runs to Indian score board after joining Pratika Rawal. The opener smashing her hundred and went on to score 122 runs off 134 deliveries.

Amelia Kerr brought the side’s second breakthrough bagging the wicket of Rawal in the 43rd over. In meantime, Rodrigues made her fifty and continued to trouble New Zealand bowlers.

After scoring 329 runs in 48 overs, rain stopped play in the game at Navi Mumbai.

Due to rain, the game has been reduced to 49 overs per innings. India batted their last over where they went on to score 340 runs in 49th over losing the wicket of Harmanpreet Kaur.

With match reduced to 44 overs, New Zealand was set to score revised DLS score of 325 runs.

Starting their chase, New Zealand’s Suzie Bates and Geogia Plimmer opened the innings while Renuka Singh Thakur opened the attack.

Kranti Gaud picked the first breakthrough dismssing Bates for 1 runs, and Georgia Plimmer went on to score 30 runs before Renuka Singh bagged her wicket.

Renuka bagged her second wicket dismissing Devine for 6 runs. However, Amelia Kerr and Brooke Halliday made a solid partnership giving hope for the side.

However, Sneh Rana broke the partnership dismissing Amelia Kerr for 45 runs, Pratika Rawal bagged the wicket of Maddy Green for 18 runs.

Brooke Halliday and Isabella Gaze went on to stitch partnership before Halliday went back to dug out after got dismissed by Shree Charani for 81 runs.

Despite Isabella Gaze’s resilient knock, New Zealand went on to score only 271 runs in 44 overs.

India secured a 53-run victory against New Zealand to secure a spot in the semi finals. India will play their final match of the group stages against Bangladesh on October 25 at Navi Mumbai.
