Virat Kohli was out for zero for the second consecutive time in Adelaide ODI. After his dismissal, the discussion about retirement intensified on social media. His gesture of waving to the spectators after the match increased speculation. Questions are being raised about his form and place in the team.
Delhi: This is the first time in the ODI career of former Indian captain Virat Kohli, when he has been out for zero in two consecutive matches. While in Perth ODI, he was out without scoring a run in 8 balls, he returned to the pavilion in just 4 balls in Adelaide. After his dismissal, various kinds of discussions started among the fans on social media. Some people even started saying whether Kohli’s international career is about to end.
When Kohli was returning to the pavilion after getting out in Adelaide, he waved towards the spectators. He had gloves in his hands and seeing this gesture, there was a discussion among the fans whether he had indicated that this could be his last series. Young players like Yashasvi Jaiswal are waiting in Team India, due to which it is becoming more difficult to get a place in the playing eleven.
Seeing this action of Virat, the fans got a little worried and started speculating that perhaps Virat was hinting towards retirement. However, this gesture could also be to thank the fans. But, what is its truth, only Kohli knows.
Before the first ODI, Kohli had given a big statement regarding his fitness and preparation. He had said that he is feeling fitter than ever and is completely focused on the 2027 ODI World Cup. But, fans are disappointed with his performance so far.
Virat had said, “I am feeling the fittest I have ever been. It is important for me to be mentally prepared and keep my body at the same level. When the body and reflexes are right, game awareness comes automatically. I always pay attention to my fitness and am feeling fresh at the moment.”
Even though Virat Kohli’s target is the 2027 World Cup, looking at his current form it seems that it will not be easy for him to retain his place in the team.
