A late cameo from Alice Capsey and Charlie Dean has helped England to set up a competitive total against Australia in the Women’s ODI World Cup 2025, played on October 22 at Indore.

Alice Capsey (38) and Charlotte Dean (26)’s knocks helped England to post 244 runs in Wednesday’s clash.

After being invited to bat first, Amy Jones and Tammy Beaumont made a decent start. Annabel Sutherland went on to dismiss Jones for 18 runs in the 9th over. With Tammy Beaumont and Heather Knight at the crease, England scored 55 runs in the powerplay.

Her dismissal severely restricted England’s run flow, and in a few overs, they lost the wickets of Emma Lamb and Sophia Dunkley for 7 and 22 runs.

However, Alice Capsey and Charlotte Dean went to stabilise the innings forging a solid partnership helping the side to breach 200 run mark.

With Molineux sent out Alice Capsey on a lbw for 38 runs, Ash Gardner went on to bag the wicket of Charlotte Dean for 26 runs.

With Linsey Smith’s run out for 3 runs, England is down to their last one wicket for 236 runs in the last over.

England went on to score 244 runs in their 50 over innings. Annabel Sutherland secured three wickets while Sophie Molineux and Ashleigh Gardner bagged two wickets each.

Speaking at the toss, Tahlia McGarth said, We’re going to bowl first. Pretty happy to chase under lights, little bit extra grass left on the wicket. Important in tourmanent play to keep the momentum going.

Excited for Volly who comes in. Molineux and Garth are back.

Meanwhile, Nat Sciver-Brunt said, “Wanted to bowl as well for similar reasons. Might be dew later on. Partnerships are really important (lessons from the previous game). Same team. We discussed it but we want to go in with confidence in the knockout stages. What a great time to play Australia. Will make for a great game.”
