Delhi: West Indies left-arm spinner Akil Hussain is going to join the team in the ongoing three-match ODI series against Bangladesh. According to sources associated with the team, Hussain will reach Dhaka by the night of 20 October and join the team. After facing defeat by 74 runs in the first ODI, the West Indies team is taking this step towards strengthening its bowling.
A Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) official told Cricbuzz that Akeel is expected to join the team tonight. Earlier, BCB had also included left arm spinner Nasum Ahmed in its team. This decision was taken after the impressive performance of the spinners in the first ODI played at Shere-e-Bangla National Stadium.
24-year-old fast bowler Ramon Simmonds has been included in the West Indies ODI team for the first time. Simmonds has played two T20 International matches before this. According to reports, experienced all-rounder Jason Holder will join the team on October 21 and is expected to play in the T20 International series.
In the first ODI, the spinners of both the teams bowled brilliantly on a slow and turning pitch. West Indies’ Khary Pierre took one wicket for just 19 runs in 10 overs, while Roston Chase took two wickets. At the same time, Bangladesh’s Rishad Hussain and Tanveer Islam together took eight wickets and played an important role in helping the team win.
