Ajmer, 20 October (Read News). On Diwali, on Monday, Gurjar community performed Shraddha of their ancestors with great devotion and tradition in Ajmer. People of the society gathered in the morning on the banks of Anasagar Lake, where they offered ‘Tarpan’ paying respect to their forefathers and forefathers. On this occasion, happiness, peace and prosperity were wished for the families.

Before Shraddha, every family takes out separate Prasad from home and keeps it on the roofs of the house or at a high place. There is a belief in the society that it is necessary for the crow to accept the Prasad, because it is considered a symbol of the approval of the ancestors. The interesting thing is that while crows are rarely seen on normal days, on this day they were seen coming in large numbers to the houses of Gurjar community and on the banks of ponds and accepting the Prasad. After receiving the prasad from the crows, the people of the society stood in the water on the banks of the lake. Everyone made a vine from green grass and straw and caught it. After this, a person placed Prasad in everyone’s hands and everyone together floated the vine in water. According to tradition, care was taken that the vine remained whole and did not break anywhere, because it is considered a symbol of auspiciousness and unity. After the tarpan everyone took the prasad collectively. After the meal, the utensils were washed, filled with lake water and brought home and sprinkled on it. Only after this, cleaning of houses, sweeping and other works were started.

It is noteworthy that Gurjar community has traditionally been a cattle rearing community. It has been rearing cows, buffaloes and sheep. In earlier times, people of the society used to go out of the villages and districts to graze their livestock and returned home only at the time of Diwali. For this reason, the Panch Patels of the society had decided at that time that Shraddha and Tarpan of ancestors would be performed on the day of Diwali. Since then this tradition has been going on continuously.
