Captain Alyssa Healy produced a masterclass with the bat, smashing an unbeaten 113 to guide Australia to a dominant 10-wicket victory over Bangladesh, virtually confirming their place in the semifinals of the ICC Women’s World Cup on Thursday.
Healy, who struck a magnificent 142 against India in the previous match on October 12, continued her dream run with another commanding ton. Her 77-ball blitz, laced with trademark aggression and precision, saw Australia chase down Bangladesh’s total of 198 in just 24.5 overs.
Opening partner Phoebe Litchfield also shone with a fluent 84 not out as the defending champions cruised to 202 without loss, completing their fourth win in five matches. Their only other fixture ended without a result.
Earlier, Bangladesh opted to bat and posted 198 for nine, anchored by Sobhana Mostary’s resilient 66 not out off 80 balls and Rubya Haider’s 44. However, they struggled to accelerate against Australia’s disciplined bowling attack.
For Australia, Ashleigh Gardner, Georgia Wareham, Annabel Sutherland and Alana King shared the spoils with two wickets each, ensuring Bangladesh were kept in check throughout the innings.
