Delhi: Ranji Trophy 2025-26 has started and matches are being played on different grounds across the country. Jharkhand has started its journey in this domestic tournament against Tamil Nadu. This match is being played at Sri Ramakrishna College of Arts and Science Ground, Coimbatore. In this match, Jharkhand’s wicket-keeper batsman Ishan Kishan batted brilliantly and scored a strong century and proved Team India’s Chief Selector Ajit Agarkar right.

Ishaan scored a century in the very first match

Ishan Kishan has been out of the Indian team for a long time. He has not played any international match since November 2023. During the South Africa tour, he declared himself on a break, after which the selectors kept him out of the team. He did not even get a place in the Test series against West Indies and England.

Team India’s Chief Selector Ajit Agarkar had clearly said that Ishan will have to score runs in domestic cricket to come back into the team. He had said, “When we selected the India A team, Ishaan was not fit. Now he will have to perform well in domestic cricket to make a comeback.”

Now Ishaan has strengthened his claim of comeback by scoring a brilliant century in the very first match of Ranji Trophy. He completed his century in 134 balls against Tamil Nadu. In this innings he hit 12 fours and 2 sixes. When Ishan came to bat, Jharkhand team had lost three wickets for 79 runs. He played captaincy innings while managing the team from there.

Kishan is working hard after the break

After taking a sudden break in December 2023, BCCI had advised Ishaan to play domestic cricket. But, initially he did not participate in domestic tournaments. For this reason, he was also dropped from the central contract of BCCI. However, now Ishaan is playing continuously in domestic cricket and with this century he has also shown that he is ready to make a comeback.
