Under the captaincy of Shubman Gill, India secured a 2-0 clean sweep in the test series against West Indies after securing a 7-wicket victory in the second test after completing the chase on day 05 at Delhi.

Resuming the game on day 05, they completed the chase of 121 at 63/1. Sai Sudharsan and KL Rahul‘s knocks have guided the hosts to another dominant victory at home.

Gill led from the front with a scintillating century in the first innings to equal Virat Kohli’s record for most Test hundreds in a calendar year by an Indian captain.

While Gill has now scored five centuries in 2025, Kohli achieved the incredible feat twice in his career in 2017 and 2018.

Currently, Shubman Gill has the most centuries in the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) history for India. Having brought up his 10th Test ton, Gill surpassed former Indian captain Rohit Sharma’s record, who recorded nine centuries.

The second test dragged into the day 05 after a century from John Campbell (115) and Shai Hope (103) and a dogged 10th-wicket stand.

Across two tests, Indian bowlers claimed all 40 opposition wickets, with pacers contributing admirably on unhelpful surfaces and spinners showing patience when conditions turned docile at the Kotla.

Wrist spinner Kuldeep Yadav was adjudged player of the match for his haul of eight wickets in the game. Meanwhile, Ravindra Jadeja deserved the player of the series for his brilliant show with both bat and ball.

Roston Chase became just the second West Indies captain to lose all five first tests as leader after Kraigg Brathwaite.

India stands in third place in the WTC 2025-27 points table after securing four wins out of seven games. They lost two games against England, and one game ended in a draw.

As per India’s 2025 cricket schedule, the Shubman Gill-led side’s next test assignment will be a home tour against South Africa starting on November 14 at Eden Gardens.
