IND vs AUS: Ellyse Perry braves injury to help Australia beat India in Women’s ODI World Cup 2025 match

Australian all-rounder Ellyse Perry braved injury and helped her side beat India by three wickets in a Women’s ODI World Cup 2025 league stage match on Sunday at the ACA-VDCA Stadium in Visakhapatnam.

The 34-year-old had retired hurt at the midway stage of Australia’s innings before she returned towards the end and finished with an unbeaten knock of 47 off 52 balls, also hitting the winning six in the penultimate over.

Earlier, the all-rounder pulled up after the last ball of the 24th over after pushing a ball from Shree Charani to cover before picking up a single.

The physio had a look at the player before which she limped off the ground, retired hurt on 32 off 40 balls.

Perry combined with skipper Alyssa Healy to forge a solid 69-run partnership to put the Aussies in control of India’s 331-run target.

The right-hand batter seemed to be struggling with a bout of cramps but it is unclear if she has done any damage to her hamstring.

The batter was replaced at the crease by Beth Mooney who was was quickly dismissed for an eight-ball four by Deepti Sharma.

Perry, then, returned to the crease at the start of the 45th over after Amanjot Kaur removed Ashleigh Gardner.
