On not being selected in the ODI team for Australia tour, Ravindra Jadeja said that he was already informed. He expressed hope of playing the 2027 World Cup. He also said that if he gets a chance, he would like to play for the country with full preparation.
Delhi: Team India’s experienced all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja did not get a place in the ODI team for the Australia tour. Due to this decision, many fans felt that perhaps Jadeja’s career in ODI is over. But, Jadeja himself says that he still hopes to play the 2027 World Cup.
Jadeja was asked about this in the press conference after the second day’s play of the Delhi Test. He said that the selectors and team management had talked to him about this decision and he was informed in advance.
Jadeja said, “Look, it is not in my hands. I definitely want to play the World Cup. But, this decision is taken by the selector, team management, coach and captain. He talked to me and also told me the reason. It is a good thing that he informed me in advance and did not surprise me.”
Jadeja made it clear that if he gets a chance next time, he will play with full preparation. His dream is to win the World Cup for India and complete what was left incomplete in 2023.
He said, “Whenever I get the next opportunity, I will try to do what I have been doing till now. If I get a chance, I would like to do well for the team. Winning the World Cup is every player’s dream. Last time we were very close. This time if we get a chance, we will try to fulfill it.”
Chief selector Ajit Agarkar also gave a statement on this and said that Jadeja is still a part of the ODI plans and doors are open for him in the future.
