Nat Sciver-Brunt went up to slam a century during the Women’s ODI World Cup 2025 game against Sri Lanka Women on October 11 at Colombo.

Her 117-run knock has helped England women to post 253 runs on the scoreboard in their innings. After being invited to bat first, England had a slow start as they lost two wickets in the power play.

Amy Jones and Tammy Beaumont opened the innings for England, while Udeshika Prabodhani opened the bowling attack.

Amy Jones got dismissed on a run out for 11 runs while Beaumont went back to the dugout for 32 runs. With Inoka Ranaweera bagging the wicket of Heather Knight for 29 runs, Nat Sciver-Brunt went on to take a solid stance.

However, other batters made a small partnership with Brunt. Sophie Dunkley scored 18 runs while Emma Lamb scored 13 runs before their dismissals.

In the meantime, the England captain Nat Sciver-Brunt went on to smash a century and helped the side to post 253 runs on the scoreboard.

Speaking at the toss, Chamari Athapaththu said, “Want to bowl first. Very confident about my bowling unit. If we restrict them to 240, will be good. One change for us. We struggled with our batting in the middle overs. Have worked on it. Privilege for the whole team to play at home.”

Meanwhile, Nat Sciver-Brunt said, “Was going to bat, pretty happy with that. I think it’ll be good (the pitch). Third game on it so the idea was to bat first, and across the day hopefully it’ll get slower and our spinners will come into the game. Same team.”

“A brilliant allrounder for us and makes up the balance of the team nicely (Capsey). We’ve had a few recruits come in and help us out in the nets (preparing against left-armers). Definitely not taking anything lightly,” added Sciver Brunt.

“They’ve got some brilliant matchwinners in their side and some great control with their spinners in the middle,” said Nat Sciver-Brunt.
