Yashasvi Jaiswal Century Record: Team India's young opener Yashasvi Jaiswal is leaving his mark by playing one excellent inning in every Test series. Jaiswal, who started his Test career against West Indies two years ago, has now once again targeted this team. Yashasvi Jaiswal scored a memorable century on the very first day of the second Test match between India and West Indies at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. During this innings, Jaiswal repeated a feat which former Indian captain and star batsman Virat Kohli had done 7 years ago.
The second test match between India and West Indies started from Friday, October 10, in which Team India came out to bat first. During this, Jaiswal also scored the 7th century of his Test career. This was also Jaiswal's second century against West Indies. Earlier in his debut Test in 2023, Jaiswal had also scored a century against West Indies. But this time's century was something special and the reason for this was its similarity with Virat Kohli.
In fact, Jaiswal was not satisfied with just scoring a century, but he converted it into a big innings and crossed the 150 mark for the fifth time in his career. As soon as Jaiswal completed 150 runs at Jaitley Stadium, he repeated the feat of Virat Kohli. In fact, Virat Kohli is one of those few batsmen who scored more than 150 runs twice on the first day of a Test match. Kohli had scored 151 runs on the very first day of the Visakhapatnam Test match against England in 2016. After this, in the Delhi Test against Sri Lanka in 2017, Kohli returned unbeaten after scoring 156 runs on the first day.
Like Kohli, Jaiswal also scored more than 150 twice in his short Test career on the first day of a Test match. But its biggest similarity with Kohli is that Jaiswal also achieved this feat in the same two venues. Like Kohli, Jaiswal had also scored 179 runs on the first day of the Visakhapatnam Test (2024) against England. Now Jaiswal scored 173 runs on the first day of Delhi Test also. Not only this, Virat Kohli also returned unbeaten in both those innings and similarly Jaiswal also remained not out on the first day both the times.
